A year ago, I've seen the most beautiful fireworks of my life,
I've got first full-time job in this place, most important, I've met friends, boss and colleages who gave love to a Malaysian girl.
I'm missing east coast bikes, dophin bay night, neighbour's cooks, sista night chats, the scary place for extra class, Bugis Juction kaki, chinatown peanuts, my clementi 'home',
and, The Sail.

Happy National day, Singapore.

".. i knew it and i can sense that it's gonna come to me but .. why does it takes such a long time.."
" .. if i dont go now i'll never have chance to go"
".. then I have to decide whether to put everything down, back from the start.."
" if allow i dunt want to leave here.."

this is what I heard from people surrounded me: a fresh grad, OL, ex-coursemate, professor, an expatriate

It's a funny thing about life; no matter how much you try to prepare, plan and push things in a certain direction, you never really know where you'll end up until you're there.

dun fill my life after August..

a lil bit more to know:
+ the renowned architect of this project; Wimberly Allision Tong and Goo Inc., was also handed over for 'cooking' another project for a half Scottish golf lover, Mr. Trump for the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Scotland. Unmistakably Wimberly's design is well known among investors for the coastline and quayside, and aboveall it's been interpreted well and dazed the eyes.
+ it's now open for investment and encouraging foreign buyers and for rental amount above S$2,500 per month.
+ expected date of legal completion: 30 june 2013
(aged30 at the time..)

not too much, just another sleepless night blogging on my bed,
pondering over the days and the hours, bits and little shifting my life vision to now, me another person.
this weekend was neither a merrier or a greater, just simple;
the sea, slippers, sandcastles, bring my heart back to the moment in Newcastle and Redang island..
the night spend in dophin beach simply soothed my spirit,
slides of friends' Kenya trip chasing animals,
lemon bitters decorated with best Sunday smile reflected on faces upon the expats stories,
i'm thankful to the people lead to open my eye, by heart,
the people who turn me down and placed me here,
the next second, i wondered why my pc doesnt store my favorite maksim, upsetting..
i come, and stop define options lay infront, cox i have no time to?
downloading existence for further appreciation, at least i'm dragging out from catching wind in the middle of strangers passengerway..
without realising, ocasionally the big hammer stop working on my head blaming off putting my both feet into this, phew..
these, here, dont come easy, to me, and thus, let go aint easy.
i gonna quit taking, i dont deserve it.
big shower, not drowning, and i'll see.. awaiting to see.
yet.. i'm still love to play jay zhou song.

Shanghai scope

17.7.06

To date, China is flooded with world major projects still under construction such as CCTV, Terminal 3, and the Beijing Olympics. Two partners from Arup’s Beijing office —Michael Kwok and Rory McGowan are showing it; CCTV by Rem Koolhaas and partners, the steel towers are beginning to rise. Norman Foster’s Terminal 3 at city airport still supported by a forest of steel; and Beijing Olympics: Herzog & de Meuron’s 'bird nest' wif the water cube framed out next door organized by McGraw-Hill Construction and the China International Contractors Association. It soon to be a great place to be experience, as new counterpoint interplaying of elements in the city. It disprove mine a miss.

Life have comes to this stage where a step have chosen;
it's been taken. a responsibility to go on. a life statement.
when one have chose selection B,
it'll never be easy to live like A,
or be behave like C vice versa.

I love selection I have now,
I doubt myself not good enough when everytime I want to achieve a whole-new.
try ways to spell it out,
but selection A doesn't seems suit me though.

when chance came, I'm with a junction,
that's how I feel safer with a second path(s).
when all seems good, I place myself at dead end.
creating more and do all I can out of my life,
even though I couldn't agree more that I'm not fearless
of something precious might possibly miss out at this stage.
what is the best solution here, have I see it be suceed.
anyway, the one step further, see you.

First Showcase

3.7.06

300606

phew.. just get back from the completed site, the Nathan Place. I would say it having almost all I want. Awesome levelling landscape gardens plus a pool and water features with fish (good landscape architects) a cosy place surrounded by other condominium. Like wise, the residents have full privacy here. The buffet set at the poolside organised by the contrators to invite the architects, QS and the clients to cheer together for getting the TOP certified.
Thus, this condominium is having some cases which is very different from other projects. Since the colonial time till today, the site has been casted several time, wherea there's one special owner who still hold this huge colonial period house on top of the uncut land until now, so there's actually a piece of land lefted that high, how high? uhmm.. from eye view.. it's a 7-8m from ground level, sound weird right? hehe, but.. there come the perfectionist (he should be) have a nice level from top to ground, who made me to not wow on the hierarchy but to appreciate it. yupe, this is the one word i want to use, appreciate the path.

Then we visited this special mansion, it's really huge! with its own entrance and second entrance from the condomnium, it might be the best place to open a childcare center and takes longest time to complete the game of hide and seek. I dont remember how many living rooms I passed by. The most unforgetable part is a very sunken shower area, haha.. without a bath tub. The owner request to modify the interior but this isn't my taste, i prefer the one opposite..

From the place we sit, the pavilion, which having the nicest view from the highest end, I would say I like this whole environment very much. Seeing the site from my seat, seeing the whole changing from day, to night, the light in the water and the windows slowing show up, wow, how happy if I were to be my colleague who have gone through from beginning, if i were to be the resident, to sit here enjoy every moment of joy. Then I'll montage Australia sky here and Taipei weather, with canon in D and red wine from Hunter Valley, and oops.. an ibook perhaps. my beautiful dream. busy city out there, i'm glad i can't feel you at all.

After visiting the very 'special' case out of the rest and superb buffet, we visited the showroom at the highest level. (haha, we can request to enter anywhere since all the important people are here and drunk..:x ) it does look more like a hotel room. my attention was draw highlighted on the double storey penhouse's big balcony for 2 rooms on top. oh my.
the units have already sold out, dreamer.

now i'm regret couldn't join the last Esparis showcase..

true role

23.6.06

last week i have a very satisfied bookshop session wif friends after scanning every dirt of the previous home. though i seldom go to the kinokuniya in KLCC last few years, now it has to 'replace' the MPH role in me last time. I found out there is few new magazine wif inspiring contents and journals which mainly published by the asia countries and too will be delivered to country like australia, china, japan and so on. will collect it if i finish reading company mag (ho.. mission possible..?)
by then, i also found out some of the electronic magazine like the bentley.com & architectureweek which is rich to digest and waken me while sleepily counting seconds in front of the desk.

"..In truth, architects are far more comfortable discussing the technical aspects of design and construction than acknowledging their role in correcting or perpetuating the problems facing our world today. .."

this is the role in most of the building but i start debate, some issues that make this happened.. (more)

Revit

14.6.06

Been a bit busy lately, and all, this is it. Learning revit by tutorials, finally I've completed my very first Revit model for a proposed project.

I really think revit is good beacause without giving up the AutoCAD software I can have my model rendered and saved in smaller mb compare to autoCAD 3D. Any change when client request to is automatically coordinated throughout a project, including model views, drawing sheets, schedules, sections, plans and renderings – also provide GFA calculation, with legend provided. or even so we can show design by options so if the client want it to be another way.
It's most likely and easier if desire to produce a green building design using revit building. HIP architects, have been awarded the first annual Autodesk Green Building Leadership Award for their green buildings all over western canada while the stuffs are using revit.

The good thing i like about it is that it easily meet client satisfaction as it's buildable when all material/element type provided in every detail and design options. Today announced that the installed base of Autodesk Revit Building software now exceeds 100,000 seats, due to the speed with which architects and designers around the world are making the move to building information modeling (BIM).

In my opinion, prior to all the benefit of construct a building model easily, there's also disadvantage when using Revit building as everything is limited down to the material and elements available before you actually can redecide. of course we can create our own material and save to the library, but not for all elements.
Also, the interior rendering effect is much detail compare to the outdoor casting in term of lighting.

So far it's really a handy tool. But will Revit ever dominate in 3d area is yet to be seen. Well, it certainly has the right concepts and principles at its core, the function has so far proved popular with its target audience. I fully expect that Revit Structures will make a big impact.

Haven't I prepare for as the another year have past. In the merit middle month of May, I turned 22. Unfortunenaly or the first time I've got a food poison in my life, and out from home. Pain Pain Pain. I didn't take leave thinking it'll be ok soon, just let it turned bad after 2 weeks and doctor told me it become a gastric flu. I start to blame, why bring myself here to suffer. My thought went searching unreasonable faults as my health reached low level. Life's been tested. Though, I'm glad to meet my friends once a while and I've learned a lot from the people. They are the happy one who doesn't give in and do wrong when they are tempted. What they went through and sees is much over mine. Wise, mature person is know for his understanding. I was in great pain in physical, in weak i saw their strength. Thanks for teaching me so much, I didn't waste this test.

how do I count, 10 more days, or 10 days left
what am I prepare for, end of the beginning, or a beginning that's about to end.
what lay beneath, it seems like ... deep ocean..
great to see, calmness to hear, to feel..
once the time is set, it become so different.
water pressure lock my breeze, to be in it.
to feel it entirely, I can't swim, not sure if I can survive.
jump or not to jump, tough decision, my way.
acknowledge a brand new bright future is awaiting, thus I dont wake up and face it directly, let alone chasing it.
this journey, once I take the first step, there's an end to the previous.
I hate knowing to say farewell gonna be any tomorrow, to you my precious friends.

New construction spring from the Earth

31.5.06

actual site

Marina Bay project have finally 'lay in the pocket' of Sands Las Vegas. after two months, the winning bid of the city-state's first integrated resort (IR) licence, after receiving the formal proposals from four major gaming operators, called The Marina Bay Sands. It staved off fierce competition for the Marina Bay project from three other bidders - Genting International and Star Cruises, Harrah's Entertainment and Keppel Land, and MGM Mirage along with CapitaLand. Follow up, the Singapore share prices closed 1.69 percent higher Friday, for the city-state's first gaming licence.
Shares of CapitaLand (the largest developer in Southeast Asia) and Keppel Land (local property developer) came under selling pressure on Monday, (speechless..) after both companies lost their respective bids to build Singapore's first integrated resort at Marina Bay. market tends to be irrational when it comes to extraordinary events. As for the winner of Marina Bay bid, Las Vegas Sands said it was ready to roll up its sleeves and begin work on its project.

The award of the project follows an in-depth two-stage bidding process which started in December 2004 and attracted 19 bids from consortiums in Australia, South Africa and the US. The integrated resort will be a centrepiece of the Marina Bay landscape come 2009.

"It will be the only one that will look to finance it entirely from funds sourced from abroad. In that regard, it is likely to be a huge injection of money in the system by a foreign entity from funds brought from abroad," said Song Seng Wun, regional economist at CIMB-GK.

The Marina Bay project is estimated to cost more than $5b; With 2,500 new hotel rooms and a host of entertainment, retail and F&B facilities, the integrated resort is set to help meet Singapore's tourism targets for 2015.The operator has also pledged to provide over 10,000 jobs at the Singapore resort, with 75 percent of them going to the locals.
(info from Channelnewsasia.com)
The hotel towers are set back from the waterfront, it will open up expansive view to the city as well as to the entire Marina Bay . It'll also make the Singapore skyline in the new downtown even more attractive and distinctive.

Though I don't really get impressed as it doesnt speak out well as a landmark (but good at the location) or represent as for the country, look forward as for developing a successful, iconic Integrated Resorts from the ground up in Marina.
